Red Jaboticaba (also sold as Red Hybrid or Precocious Jaboticaba) is an interspecific hybrid -- Plinia cauliflora crossed with aureana -- bred specifically for early fruiting. Where Sabara can take a decade to produce its first crop from seed, a grafted or air-layered Red Jaboticaba can fruit in as little as 1 to 3 years. That is the key distinction. It is a more compact tree than Sabara and produces multiple crops annually once it settles in.
Reddish-purple fruit that is slightly larger than Sabara with a sweeter, less tannic skin. The same dramatic trunk-fruiting habit, but with multiple crops per year once established.
