Kent was selected in Coconut Grove, Florida and became one of the most commercially important FL mango varieties. Its late ripening window fills the gap after other varieties have finished, keeping mango season alive into September. Kent is a vigorous, upright grower -- it needs aggressive pruning immediately after harvest each year to stay at a manageable residential height. Rewarding for growers who are comfortable with an annual pruning.
Rich and sweet with a hint of tartness. Large oval fruits with red and yellow-green skin hold up well for shipping and last long on the counter.
