Also known as Murcott, Honey Tangerine is a Florida original that ripens mid-winter when fresh fruit is scarce. It has a reputation for intense alternate bearing -- a massive crop one year, near-nothing the next -- and requires thinning heavy crops by hand to prevent branch collapse. The reward is some of the sweetest citrus you can grow in Florida.
Intensely sweet with deep orange flavor and a honey-like richness. Peels easily by hand. The juice is thick and syrupy compared to other tangerines.
